Waveplates, also called Retardation plates or Retarders, change the state of polarization of a light beam passing through it. The Waveplate resolves an incoming beam of light into two orthogonally polarized components while retarding the phase of one of the components relative to the other. Zero Order Waveplates are constructed of two Crystal Quartz plates that are oriented so that the optical axes are orthogonal. Our standard Waveplates are air spaced. Cemented and contacted versions are also available. Zero order Waveplates are far less sensitive to temperature changes. True Zero Order Waveplates are available as small as 0.5mm in diameter and as thin as 90 microns.
Tower Optical standard Waveplates are Laser Quality Crystal Quartz which are AR coated. Several wavelengths are available with Broad Band Coatings (asterisked on chart). Other wavelengths and custom dimensions are available on a special order basis. |
Standard Waveplates are supplied mounted in ½" (8mm clear aperture, CA) or 1" (15mm CA) anodized Aluminum housings. These Waveplates may also be ordered unmounted. In addition, 25.4mm (22mm CA) Waveplates are supplied unmounted or mounted in a 30mm mounting ring.
Tower Optical has thousands of Waveplates in stock for immediate delivery. Custom Waveplates, for specific requirements, are routinely manufactured. Specify dimensions, shape, wavelength, retardation and coatings.
